I sat on this mix for a while waiting for the perfect time to release it. District Ignition's weekly Friday party is starting up again at a new club called Muse, in Chinatown, Washington, DC, with a focus on underground nu disco, tech house, and up and coming sounds. I had been falling in love with tech house all over again when I made this mix, and with our new party starting on November 13 with guest DJ's Icey and AC Slater, I figured now was as good a time as any put his deep techy house mix on the internet. The fall season is well upon us and that can only mean one thing... The annual "2rip's Drunken Slutfest" otherwise known as his birthday. It's been a while since we've heard from our Cleveland counterpart, DJ Evasion. The last time we featured him on the podcast he was blowing things up in Pittsburgh & Cleveland. While he is still a mainstay in that region he has recently gained a huge following in Arizona where he has been traveling frequently to play at Scottsdale's most acclaimed nightclub "Myst."

Aside from that he has worked to get his foot firmly planted in the dubstep scene. This past summer he did an opening set for Noah D in Ohio and walked away from the decks with the room calling for more Evasion.

This podcast is his October electro-house & indie dance mix. We've given it several listens and have decided that "This Shit Is Hot."

We want to make sure everyone is properly hyped for the MSTRKRFT & Crystal Method show we have at Glow on August 8th, 2009. This show is expected to sell out so we're encouraging everyone to plan to arrive early and beat the wait in the general admission line by printing out the pass from our main site.

MSTRKRFT has made some huge waves since their debut a few years back. They teamed up with John Legend last year to produce "Heartbreaker" which they played live on the David Letterman show. They also remixed a popular track by Justice called "D.A.N.C.E." which has a pretty sweet video if you look it up on YouTube.

B. Rich, formerly known in the nineties as "Sunrize," has made huge waves wherever he has been. After having toured with AC Slater for years Barrett has branded himself as a producer of "house music with lots of bass." His tracks range from electro house and fidget to dubstep.

This mix was originally inspired by DJ Dan's "Tribute to James Brown" mix from 1993. After speaking with Dan recently he told me that he made that mix during a time where everyone in the rave scene was playing harder techno. "Tribute" was essentially his way of going against the grain of what everyone else was doing at the time.

Recently I've sensed a need to go against the grain myself. My sets have become more diverse and in turn has inspired me to become more creative in the way I build my sets. While this mix stays consistent within one genre I feel that it has given me a way to express myself in a different way as well as give you all something new to "chew on."

FREQ THE FUNK was mixed on 4 turntables and the majority of my techniques relied on beat drops, scratching, cutting, looping and filtering.

In 2004 Jon Carpenter moved from the United States to live in Seoul, South Korea where he played as an American headliner at events on a regular basis, establishing contacts and rocking the biggest nightclubs in Seoul. Jon soon relocated a second time to Belgium where he continued to develop his electro house sound, driven by funky basslines and fresh vocals.

On Halloween of 2008 we featured Thomas Penton as a surprise guest performance at SNATCH - our weekly party hosted on the basement level of Ultrabar at 911 F St NW. The night was packed to the brim and Thomas laid down a well programmed set.

Thoma Penton is a name that rings bells to those who followed progressive house through the nineties. His first appearances were on Fade Records and well as Paul Oakenfold's Perfecto label. Deep into the millenium his tracks have been featured on the playlists of dj's like Steve Lawler and even Armin Van Buuren.

Keep an eye out for Thomas Penton's upcoming release with Steve Prior called "Shift Cycle" on One Love Music. Also prepare your livers for the first resident night at Snatch in nearly a year. This week we are celebrating DJ 2rip's birthday at Snatch. Also on the lineup is Breakfast of Flashover Recordings and also Christauff. This podcast is a live mix from DJ 2rip's weekly radio show which broadcasts over AFTERHOURSDJS on Mondays from 7-9pm. This was the introduction to one of his sets and features a blend of deep and minimal house music.

This past July we hosted Evasion and Greg Zorn as a tagteam set at Snatch. The place was packed and they laid down 2 hours of fresh electro house. Hosting their own events they have become revered as one of Cleveland's most popular production companies.

This mix hits the techier side of electro-progressive house with a new Funkagenda & Mark Knight remix of Andy Ling's "Fixation" as well "Shnorkel" by Ido Ophir.

This is a trance mix. Surprised? I started out a trance DJ and recently started listening to it again. I'm not going to stop playing house, I just wanted to diversify.

I think trance can be a bad word among D.C. area DJs and that made me feel a bit apprehensive putting this mix out there, but really, I liked the tracks so much I decided to do it anyway. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

On Halloween weekend of 2007 District Ignition deejays 2rip, Ramz & Christauff shook the floor at Ibiza Nightclub for another memorable takeover.

At 2am Mr. 2rip jumped on the decks for an onslaught of fast-mixed chart toppers by Dubfire. After the third track the music cut off for the costume contest. This is where the mix begins. The whole session was about 2 hours long. This week's podcast gives you a glimpse of 45 minutes of that classic set.

This year Halloween falls on a Friday so District Ignition will be hosting Snatch-O-Lantern in the basement of Ultrabar as part of their weekly Snatch lineup. I've been having a lot of fun lately and this mix reflects it! I had the pleasure of opening for Hatiras (Blow Media) a couple weeks ago which was awesome, and more than a little humbling. (The man has serious skills!) Myself and District Ignition have also been privileged with all the major talent that's come through our parties in the last couple weeks including Max Graham, Hernan Cattaneo, and Tiesto to name a few, add to that the fact it's summer in DC and life is generally awesome. This mix has the requisite electro goodness, a touch of acid, properly bangin' funky house and of course, some dirty basslines. Hope you all enjoy!

This mix is bass-heavy, and provides a darker setting compared to Steve's typical style.
